Facebook is continuing to fine-tune and adapt its Messenger mobile apps (iOS/Android), today pushing live updates which include a potentially disruptive feature: voice messages. The iOS and Android Messenger apps (which will be available later today) have been outfitted with a new option alongside the photo and camera buttons, offering a ‘Record’ toggle that can be pushed and held to record voice messages. I like this idea and I will definitely give it a go. Normally I hate voice messages. It’s such a chore to call the operator voice message number and listen to “You have 2 new messages from the 21st of December…” etc. This solution seems way more attractive. It will however not replace standard voice messages. I don’t know about you, but the people who still leave me voice messages have barely heard about Facebook.

I tested it today, works great but It is still not worth the download of the Messages app for me.

Today I received a PM from a twitter friend that went like this

I immediately noticed the obvious trap in it and proceeded to check it in Private mode in Chrome ( No previous sessions are stored. This way I can’t login automatically even If I wanted to) and the link redirected me to this webpage:

The obvious troll site is OBVIOUS. It immediately asks for your user and your password, there is no twitter footer , there’s just a form asking for your personal information and the most important part: the URL is not from twitter. “ivvtter.com”

How to protect yourself against this kind of attack?

Firstly you should not open url’s that you don’t know and trust. shady web addresses should not be opened if you don’t trust the person that is sending you the link.
The first thing that you should check before entering your private information in a new site is the url. e.g. a twitter.com subdomain or a facebook.com one or whatever It would be something trying to look like it for the clueless ones like “tviter.com” or “fbook.com” Misspelled urls of popular sites are used to scam people often, and you don’t know how easy it is to do it that way…
Check for the certification of the site clicking on the “lock” next to the url in your preferred browser (I really hope you are not using IE)
If you think your twitter account is compromised, just change your password (don’t use the same password for all your logins), it’ll be allright.

No technology ever dies completely, so in some senses it’s easy to promise that email will stick around. But more to the point, email is a “we” technology. You or I don’t decide to use it – “we” do. You may attempt to quit checking email, but you’ll still be receiving them. Sooner or later you’ll likely cave in and start checking it again (perhaps after one-too-many missed invitations, etc.). If we’re going to stop using email we’re going to have to all decide to do that at the same time, and that’s a big, big thing to ask.

I really cannot wait to see what happens when everyone starts using Mailbox in a few weeks. It has changed my work life dramatically for the better. It’s a true revelation.

- Rob Enderle, in an article for CIO entitled Why 2013 Is RIM’s BlackBerry Year — yes, really.

I get accused of being a troll quite often. But come on, Enderle is clearly just playing everyone for a fool and milking it to create some sort of anti-career. There’s no other explanation as to how he could write this entire post — and really, anything he’s written the past several years — and still have a job anywhere.

It’s not just that he’s a moron; he’s simply wrong in nearly everything he says. And yet, people still hire this clown and invite him on national television and to speak at conferences.

I continue to want a job as an analyst. I couldn’t do it full-time, but surely I could go around part-time talking out of my ass and reaping the rewards of being a total jackass that isn’t accountable for anything he says.

These dickbags troll everyone. But I just don’t get why a boy that cries wolf a thousand times doesn’t have his larynx cut out after about the 400th time of the wolf not showing up…
